Culture is defined as the collection of beliefs, behaviors, and social norms that define a group of people. This can include customs, language, arts, laws, and traditions.
Ephesians 6:12 says that "Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against rulers, against authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."
The United states really doesn't want there to be an "all-powerful God" that created the Heavens and the earth and everything in it. If the world acknowledged God, then that would force them to submit to and answer to him for their actions, beliefs, etc.
Some Modern influencers of secular culture that have attacked or resulted in the attack of God's role in our lives, culture, and our understanding of ourselves:
1. Carl Marx: Believed that Government should be the Ultimate Ruler
2. Charles Darwin: His theories led to the belief that God is not the Ultimate Maker.
3. Sigmund Freud argued that God is not the Ultimate Law Giver.
Romans 12:2 says "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. THen you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - His good, pleasing and perfect will."
Psalm 14:1 says "The fool says in his heart, 'there is no God.'"
Psalm 37:13 says "as for those kinds of fools, The Lord laughs at the wicked, for he sees that his day is coming."
How has the church been called to be "in the world but not of the world?"
What can we as disciples of Jesus do to help not only build up other disciples, but share our lives in Christ with others?
